The House of Onyx is located in Greenville, Kentucky. The business was founded by the late Fred Rowe and his wife, Shirley, in 1967.



Although we are located in a small town of only 4,300 people, the quality and quantity of merchandise available in our showrooms is comparable to what you expect to see in a museum or large metropolitan area. We have many one-of-a-kind, designer jewelry pieces and rare gemstones on display.



The business began as a small mail order company offering Mexican Onyx carvings and chess sets. As years progressed and sales increased, loose gemstones and jewelry were added to the inventory. We now carry an extensive line of colored gemstones, gemstone jewelry, Diamond jewelry, Pearls and Pearl jewelry, estate jewelry, gold and platinum jewelry, sterling silver jewelry, gemstone carvings, Cloisonné, beads, minerals and fossils, as well as Mexican Onyx.



The House of Onyx, Inc. has a laboratory for gemstone identification and appraisal with three full-time graduate gemologists on staff. Our gemologists and other staff members are eager to assist and advise you on merchandise selection. We want to be your source for gemstones, jewelry and gift items.



We provide as much information as possible on our merchandise including karat of gold, millimeter size, carat weight and shape of gemstones, as well as proper identification. Our specialty is customer service and satisfaction. We welcome your comments on how we can improve.



Please plan a trip to visit our showrooms when traveling through Kentucky. Our business hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment.



Prepare to be amazed as you step inside the House of Onyx. Our jewelry and gemstone showroom is located in our main office building along with several rooms of discounted merchandise. Inside the jewelry showroom, you will see everything from Alexandrite to Zircon, both loose and mounted into jewelry.



We have thousands of loose bead strands in a discount room starting at only $1.00 per strand. Also, in this room, you will find our Mexican Onyx carvings and many gift items priced at under $10.00 each.



A second discount room features colored gemstones at half off. The third and final discount room is filled with our final closeouts – you never know what you’ll find in this room, but it will be a bargain.



Our mineral and fossil hall features seven rooms of exquisite mineral, fossil and crystal specimens. We also have mineral specimens starting at $1.00 each for the beginning rockhound.
