Metro Fire & Safety Equipment Co., Inc. was originally established in 1962 as Metro Fire Extinguisher Sales & Service. It began as a small one-man operation working out of a garage in Moonachie, NJ. At this time the Meadowlands was just beginning to develop into the industrial area we know today.



Installation and servicing of fire extinguishers was the mainstay of the business and the demand created by new warehouses and industrial buildings was unprecedented. Metro Fire grew quickly and developed a reputation of providing quality equipment and unparalleled service. By the early 1970's the scope of business was expanded to include industrial safety equipment and fire department supplies and the name was changed to Metro Fire & Safety Equipment Co.



The Company outgrew its original location and moved into a portion of a building at 115 Moonachie Road in Moonachie. It wasn't long before the entire building as well as a new addition was needed for the operation. In 1992 the company became a corporation and again expanded its services to include installation, service, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems, as well as fire and burglar alarm systems. It became necessary once again to find larger quarters and in 1998 Metro moved to its present location in Carlstadt, just about a mile from its original birthplace.



The company has undergone many changes through the years in order to keep pace with the ever-changing fire protection requirements of New Jerseys business and industry. Our goal is to provide our customers with the finest fire protection services available anywhere.
