Established in 1972, The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(6) corporation headquartered in Little Rock, Ark., with an additional office in Fort Smith, Ark. Our mission is to promote excellence in health and health care through education and evaluation. AFMC has been at the forefront of healthcare reform and practice transformation as a trusted partner in private, state and federally led payment innovations by Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers. We help providers develop stronger patient relationships, better integration with medical neighborhoods, and team-based approaches to delivering care.

As an Arkansas Qualified Practice Transformation Vendor, long-time Medicaid contractor, former Quality Improvement Organization, and current REC, AFMC has well-established relationships with clinicians, hospitals, beneficiaries, and other healthcare stakeholders throughout all service areas in the region. Our years of service have advanced our expertise in provider recruitment, health improvement; marketing and outreach; training and education, health information technology and security; and program evaluation through survey research and data analyses. We deliver services through on-site or virtual consultations; social media and media campaigns; training seminars; Web-based instruction; community outreach; conferences; help lines; learning action networks; surveys (for beneficiaries and providers); focus groups; and educational tools.

AFMC is governed by a community-based board of directors that includes physicians and representatives from hospitals and other health care providers, businesses, and consumers across the state. Our staff consists of nearly 200 professionals in clinical medicine, data management, epidemiology and statistics, quality improvement and communications.
