Values: Humility | Honesty | Patience | Persistence
Humility: True humility means to live without a sense of ego. When we are humble we get joy through serving others and giving joy to others. True humility means we have a sense of oneness with others; when we are humble we can get joy from others achievements. Humility does not mean self-criticism. Humility does not mean becoming like a slave to a master. Sometimes when we aggravate the circumstances, we attempt to promote a false modesty. Often in this case there is actually a sense of ego. We feel by making ourselves to be pitiable we may attract sympathy from others. True humility does not believe in this false modesty. When we are truly humble we avoid drawing unnecessary attention to ourselves. We neither extol ourselves to the skies, nor do we make ourselves out to be a miserable failure.
Honesty: A person who is considered honest is one who displays integrity, is genuine and not deceptive or fraudulent. Honesty is characterized by truth and sincerity. Honesty denotes the quality of being upright in principle and action. Honesty implies truthfulness, fairness in dealing with others, and refusal to engage in fraud, deceit, or dissembling.
Patience: Patience is a sign of great understanding and wisdom. Being slow to anger is much more beneficial than being easily angered. Impatience is destructive and foolish. It rarely if ever achieves anything. Patiently persuading people over time is far more effective than losing your temper and alienating people. Patience is powerful. Patience is not a passive ?do nothing and wait for something to change? thing ? it is an active ?be involved and bring about change? thing.
Persistence: Persistence is the ability to maintain action regardless of your feelings. You press on even when you feel like quitting. Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
