Dr. Roosevelt G. Daniel, received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia and his medical degree from University of Alabama School of Medicine. Dr. Daniel completed his residency at Brody School of Medicine (East Carolina University). This residency was in internal medicine and pediatrics. He is a member of The North Carolina Pediatric Society and The American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Roosevelt Daniel’s gentle and professional manner provides quality health care to his patients and their families in Lee County.
Dr. Miriam Garcellano, Family Practice, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Hope College in Holland, Michigan and her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Providence Hospital. Dr. Garcellano provides hands on treatment for neck, shoulders and back problems. She is known for her infectious smile and quality time spent with her patients.
Dr. Danielle Towns, Family Practice, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Columbia College and her Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical University of Charleston. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Susan Scouten, APRN-BC, received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati, and received a Masters of Community Health Nursing and Certificate of Graduate Studies in Family Nursing from the University of South Carolina. She has professional affiliations with American Nurses Association, South Carolina Nurses Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau, Alpha Xi Chapter. She served as director of a Nurse Practitioner staffed primary health care center. Scouten has worked extensively in the primary health care field since 1982, and has brought to CareSouth Carolina the expertise and compassion that we strive to maintain.
Betsy Whiteside, APRN-BC, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from The University of South Carolina Upstate and her Master of Science degree in Nursing from The University of South Carolina College in Columbia. Betsy is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support and CPR. Her objective is to provide primary health care to individuals and families of all ages with a focus on wellness, illness prevention, performing physical examinations and treating illnesses. Her experience includes FNP positions at Carolina Internal Medicine-Mary Black Health System and Family Practice Associates-Mary Black Health System, both in Union, South Carolina.
Sharon Denise Swinton, LMSW is a licensed clinical counselor for CareSouth-Carolina at the Hartsville site. Mrs. Swinton completed her undergraduate degree at Benedict College in the field of Social Work. She furthered her education in the School of Social Work at Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Her graduate internship was done at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where she obtained an interest in HIV/AIDS population in terms of their treatment and care. Her master's thesis was dealt with the topic of providing treatment to the HIV/AIDS population along with ways of fostering prevention. She continues her interest in the field as a counselor and an advocate for better treatment services to individuals suffering from AIDS, mental illness, and a variety of other clinical problems.

Dr. Leon Hunt, received his undergraduate degree in Arts and Science from Clemson University and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his residency at the St. Louis City Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Hunt has been caring for the residents of Lee County for over 40 years. Patricia is a member of American Nurses Credentialing Center where she is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, she is a member of the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina, Association of Women’s Health, obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, Inpatient Obstetric Nursing, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider.

Kandice van Beerschoten, MSW, LISW-CP, received her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina – Pembroke and her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Tona Tedder, APRN, MSN, FNP-BC, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and his Master of Science degree in Nursing from The University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Tona is a member of South Carolina Nurses Association and South Carolina Advanced Practice Nurses Council. She is certified with American Heart Association as Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider and Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider. Tona has been working in the healthcare profession for over 30 years, providing care at all ages with an emphasis on health promotion through education and management of patients daily. She has been responsible for health education for all patients with emphasis on Hypertension, Diabetes, Congestive Heart Failure, Sinusitis, URI, Asthma, GERD, Dermatological Problems, Renal Disease, etc. Tona is admired and respected by all of her patients because of the quality of care they receive from her.

Dr. Tanya Reid, Pediatrician, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Michigan and received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed her Pediatric residency and Allergy and Immunology fellowship from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Reid is known for her friendliness and spending quality time with her patients.
Aquilla Bec, MSN, CPNP, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Pensacola Christian College where she graduated Magna cum laude and her Master of Science degree in Nursing with a major in the advanced child health specialty from the University of South Alabama. Ms. Ogburn is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. She is licensed as an advanced practice nurse by the Board of Nursing in South Carolina and licensed as a registered nurse in Florida and South Carolina. Her gentle and professional manner as a pediatric nurse practitioner provides quality, holistic care to patients and their families.
Patricia J. Nelson, received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Buffalo State College and her Masters in Social Work from State University of Buffalo. As a clinical social worker, Patricia provided therapy for clients suffering from mental illness and /or drup/alcohol addiction, developed a Mentally Ill and Chemically addicted Tract for the Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Unit to treat dually diagnosed clients, co-chaired continuous Quality Improvement committee and quality Assurnace committee, and provided mental health education for hospital staff. She is also experienced with providing assessment, prevention and referral services to children, teens and adults. Patricia has worked in conjunction with Research Coordinators to screen and offer treatment/referrals to women identified as victims of Domestic Violence.
