In 1859, many attorneys had offices here and it was sometimes called Poverty Row but the name Strawberry Alley remained.   After World War I, the alley from Public Square to Second Street was extende Walkway over riverside View of the Cumberland from the riverwalk downtown. RiverCenter features a 12-panel chronological history of the Cumberland River and its significance to the development of Clarksville as one of America?s great Southern river towns. Built in 1842 by John Poston. The Poston Building, considered one of the oldest commercial buildings still in use, had five chimneys during its early years.
