Compass Components, Inc.

Compass Components, Inc., (CCI) established in 1979, provides Engineering, Manufacturing and Distribution services to our customer base throughout the Western United States. Compass is a privately owned company with approximately 125 employees. We are strongly committed to keeping our services in North America and target customers who share that business philosophy. We operate from locations in the San Francisco Bay area and in the Southwestern United States. Compass supports a wide variety of customers in the Transportation, Medical, Semiconductor, Solar, Government and Industrial markets. Due to our customer diversification, Compass has maintained a strong revenue stream and has continued to hire employees at all levels during the current economic down turn.



In 1994 CCI consolidated operations in our current 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Fremont, California. By this time the business mix had changed to 60% manufacturing and 40% distribution. To provide additional focus on the value added manufacturing business a division, Compass Manufacturing Services (CMS) was formed, and the remaining operation was named Compass Component Distribution (CCD). During the next decade CMS experienced significant growth. In 1999 we implemented a fully integrated ERP software system to more efficiently manage the operation. The facility was significantly reconfigured and investments were made in capital equipment to accommodate new business and to maximize efficiency. We formed a design and engineering services group, which increased our capabilities in the mechanical assembly sector.



In March of 2007 CCI became aware of the planned plant shut down of the Sparton Electronics facility in Deming, New Mexico. We were impressed with the eagerness and the cooperation of the city and state, along with the programs available for development of new business in New Mexico. With the support of Deming city officials and New Mexico state representatives we were able to complete our due diligence and the acquisition of the Sparton Electronics operation within a one-month period. Additionally, CCI purchased the 90,000 sq. ft. building and property from Sparton Electronics. The Compass Southwest Operations was formed and opened for business on April 2, 2007 employing 15 former Sparton Electronics employees. During the past two years CCI has made significant investments in facilities upgrades and equipment improvements. Today Compass Southwest Operations has grown to over 70 employees.



The CCI vision for continued corporate growth is the expansion of the Compass Southwest Operation. We are budgeting significant investments in the Deming facility during the next five years, including infrastructure improvements and equipment to support new technologies. We also plan extensive training programs, including ISO 9000 to further develop our employee capabilities.
