s organization has been formed to meet the needs of victims of domestic violence after they have separated from their abusive partners. For many survivors, the abuse continues but just in different forms. Many survivors of domestic violence have left a relationship where they have been controlled physically and financially, and therefore leave with little more than the clothes on their backs. This puts these survivors at a crisis for being able to advocate for their children and unable to seek counseling to deal with an unhealthy trauma in a healthy way. As a result, many children are exposed to unhealthy violence vicariously and abused themselves, because the protective parent lacks the means to properly represent the children s best interest.
