History

The Firm's experience investing in healthcare spans over 25 years and covers numerous economic cycles and reimbursement paradigms. Having co-founded Golder, Thoma, Cressey, Rauner ("GTCR") and Thoma Cressey Equity Partners before founding Cressey & Company, Bryan Cressey helped pioneer the Firm's buy-and-build strategy in the late 1970s and has been investing in successful, growing healthcare businesses ever since. This strategy, which entails investing in leading platform businesses, and accelerating growth both organically and through acquisitions thereafter, was and continues to be ideally suited for pursuing investments in the healthcare industry. The Firm proudly continues to execute the buy-and-build investment strategy pioneered by Bryan Cressey.

Cressey & Company's team had successfully invested in healthcare over three funds at predecessor firm Thoma Cressey Equity Partners (and subsequently Thoma Cressey Bravo) before raising its fourth fund, Cressey & Company IV, which is focused exclusively on healthcare investments. Recognizing the growing importance of Nashville in the healthcare community, the Firm opened a Nashville office in 2008. In addition, Cressey & Company formed an Executive Board composed of accomplished healthcare executives who assist the Firm and its portfolio companies on a wide variety of strategic and operational issues.
