Dakota Services, Inc. started as a fire protection company in 1984. Fire protection services include structural fire protection, aircraft rescue fire fighting (ARFF), wild land fires, confined space rescue, hazardous material response, fire alarm communication center, mutual aid, emergency medical and emergency transportation service. The company began with firefighters as principal owners working for the United States Air Force with our principal location and contracts at the only Anti Ballistic Missile System in the world. This complex was called the Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex, which consisted of six elements: the missile site radar (MSR) complex, the four remote Sprint launch (RSL) sites, and the perimeter acquisition radar (PAR) site. We have been a part of the ABM System since its inception in the late 60's and early 70's. We have worked to establish a fire protection service for the Air Force that has provided fire protection, fire prevention, and facility inspection programs for the ABM System that includes all of the sites mentioned. The ABM System is now known as the Cavalier Air Force Station. Some sites involved in the ABM System have become inactive; however, we still provide fire protection to these sites. The challenges of being a part of one of the first contractor-operated fire departments in the United States has given us a unique experience in knowing what works in a variety of complicated scenarios. We have had the responsibility of providing fire protection to facilities that house tremendous power grids and power plants within windowless facilities that are constructed to withstand a direct nuclear strike. We have provided fire protection for missile fields with solid rocket-fueled nuclear warheads. We provide mutual aid fire protection with 7 different communities. We have assisted in fires in communities involving many different scenarios, such as large farm elevators, churches, industrial sites, and main street businesses. Fire PreventionFire Prevention is a big part of Dakota Services, Inc.'s continuing success. Our Facility Inspection Program is an important part of our fire prevention program. The facilities on our bases are inspected in accordance AFI 32-2001, NFPA codes, Life Safety Code, and applicable codes that fit special situations. Inspections are conducted by our trained Technical Services staff. Our Fire Prevention Program includes fire extinguisher inspections, maintenance & testing, reviewing of blueprints to ensure they meet code, fire drills, walk-through inspections, and hydrant maintenance. We also have an extensive sprinkler system throughout our facilities that is inspected by our firefighters. Our Fire Prevention Program also includes fire prevention education, ranging from teaching contractor and military families the proper use of fire extinguishers, to identifying fire hazards on military housing, to educating elementary kids on the dangers of fire. Fire TrainingWe have staff that includes Fire Officers IV, III, II, I, Fire Inspectors, Fire Instructors, Firefighters I & II, and Driver Operators, along with HAZMAT Technicians and EMTs. We train our own workforce, including first responders and EMTs. Training is in accordance with the Department of Defense's Firefighting Certification Program. All of our firefighters are trained and certified through the DoD. We have an on-going training program for all our personnel. We train in structural firefighting, aircraft rescue fire fighting (ARFF), HAZMAT, confined space rescue, and alarm room center operations. We have firefighters that have been trained from Firefighter 1 to the level of Fire Officer 4. The training plan we use is developed as needed in accordance to Air Force Regulations. Firefighters that are trained by Dakota Services, Inc. can work on any fire department in the world. The DoD Firefighting Certification Program is recognized as the best certification program in the industry. SafetyFire Safety is a crucial part of firefighting and Dakota Services, Inc recognizes the importance of a well-run program. We have a Fire Officer in charge of a safety program that uses the NFPA 1500 as its guide to establishing an effective program. Our safety record for the past 20 years is impeccable. We also participate in the AFOSH -91-301 and AFOSH- 91-202. Safety comes first in all our training exercises and fire runs. We recognize that injuries and death are more prevalent in training exercises than in actual fires. We realize that a good physical fitness program is essential in any fire department. We use the NFPA 1582 as a guide in developing a fitness and wellness program that keeps firefighters physically fit to perform their dutiesSecurityDakota Services, Inc. also has experience in providing armed security and law enforcement operations to include such services as security force management, installation entry control, vehicle registration and inspection, search and seizure, training of personnel, maintaining of armory, personnel evaluations, force protection conditions measures, vehicle patrol and foot patrol, building security, civil disturbance, and terrorist threats.
