The Davenport Family has been in the heavy transport and rigging industry since the 1950's when R. H. "Dave" Davenport entered the field, working for several of the top US Heavy Transport Companies. In 1971 Dave and the family formed Dave Davenport & Sons, Inc. and began operations. In 1981, Davenport & Sons asked Ernie Siebert of Siebert Trailers to build a "concept trailer." Ernie agreed and built his first 13 axle trailer, Davenport worked with the State of Texas to get the trailer approved for oversize/overweight operations - the rest of the story is history, as the 13 axle trailer has become a workhorse of the heavy haul industry. This type of innovation attracted the attention of worldwide heavy transport and rigging company, Mammoet in 1989 and resulted in the formation of Davenport Mammoet Heavy Transport, later known as Mammoet USA. The Davenport family managed Davenport Mammoet/Mammoet USA until 2002 when the company was sold to new owners. After a couple of years of pursuing other goals, the family decided that it was time to get back into the business that we loved - Davenport Transport & Rigging was formed. Through the years the Davenport family has built a reputation for handling abnormal and oversize cargo shipments safely, efficiently and seamlessly.
