Eastern Shoshone Recovery Program advocates for all services provided to be within a person centered, recovery oriented system of care. These services are safe, accessible, And, AFFORDABLE. The Program utilizes evidence/experience based practices to the Eastern Shoshone tribal Community and surrounding areas of the Wind River Indian reservation.
Eastern Shoshone Recovery Program models Core Cultural values of Reciprocity, Respect, Responsibility and Relationship; in addition to western treatment methods, and co-occurring services. The program utilizes the Native World view of healing developed by Gene Thin Elk called the Red Road to Recovery. This “Wellbriety” approach emphasizes a Native American representation of recovery. The Medicine Wheel recovery is cultural and holistic methods of healing: spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance grounded in beliefs of various tribes. This Strength Based Approach to wellness recognizes the “whole person” whereby health and Spirituality are integrated in therapeutic and peer led programming.
This approach features a promotion of mental health, recovery of alcohol and drugs, re-integration into community, and a balanced emotional and spiritual presence.
