Geographic Computer Technologies, LLC (GCT) is a full service information technology company specializing in the planning, development, and implementation of geographic information systems (GIS). In operation for over ten years, GCT maintains offices in New Orleans and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Gulfport. Our client base includes all levels of government, from local to state to regional to federal entities, and private industry ranging from engineering/planning firms, environmental firms, mineral extraction and agricultural firms, non-profit groups, and legal firms requiring GIS expertise. GCT is an official ESRI Business Partner making us an authorized ESRI consultant, ESRI software re-seller, and ESRI software instructor. We had the honor of being selected New ESRI Business Partner of the Year in 2002.

The premise leading to our company's founding was that competent, knowledgeable firms successfully leading GIS projects from conception to completion were few and difficult to find. Our company's founder previously worked within a public sector agency attempting to modernize and capitalize upon the benefits of GIS technology. To his dismay he discovered a significant lack of professional consultants that comprehended the science and the art of constructing fully functional, customized GIS systems and datasets. The realization of this professional void initiated the establishment of GCT.

GCT is not an engineering, planning, or surveying firm that decided to get into the GIS business. From the beginning, our company was comprised of a group of professional database designers, software engineers, and GIS analysts and technicians dedicated to mastering existing GIS technology while evaluating emerging technology for future use. The majority of our staff has previously served in the public and private sectors with backgrounds in engineering, planning, and administration.

GCT brings a comprehensive approach to each project and we strongly advocate the "enterprise GIS" strategy and solution. We have developed proven strategies and procedures to efficiently evolve projects from mere concept to functional reality. Our company not only builds databases, but just as importantly, we take these masses of data and make them easy to use for all users regardless of technical skill. For instance, GCT has developed customized work order and permitting data-entry and data-retrieval systems which relate, interact, and rely upon the GIS-based datasets. Another example of GCT making GIS datasets and systems accessible to every level of user is our development of customized applications via web-based internet mapping using ESRI ArcGIS Server software.

With the over two hundred individual projects tackled since the inception of GCT, we have developed datasets and GIS-related applications for just about every function of government. Some examples include utility and public works, property appraisal/tax assessment, planning and zoning, emergency preparedness/management and E-911, and environmental.
