Company Summary

For as long as she can remember, Jackie Lenfestey-DeMont wanted to take care of people. “There were no physicians – or anyone in healthcare – in my family, but I knew I wanted a career in medicine. I wasn’t sure which path to take until I got to know my youth group leader at church. She was a surgical nurse and she inspired me.”
Jackie chose oncology during her clinical rotations as an undergrad at Bethel University in Mishawaka, IN. “Until that time, no other field had challenged me, but when I started my hours in oncology, I fell in love with the specialty and the patients,” she recalls. “I knew I had found my home and my passion.” She also found a home at Beacon. “I wanted to be part of a healthcare system that was invested in my community and had a long-standing reputation for excellence. I was born at Memorial Hospital and I’m a lifelong resident of the Michiana Community.”
As a board-certified Advanced Oncology Nurse Practitioner, Jackie works closely with a hematologist/oncologist to assist physicians and help patients with a blood disorder/disease or malignancy. “I always do my best to treat my patients and their families the way I would like to be treated,” she says. “When I go home at the end of the day, I know I cannot change a diagnosis or prognosis. However, I can make a difference by providing care that is unique to every patient. I can help them and their families along their cancer journey.”
Jackie’s patients inspire her every day and have deeply enriched her life. Working in oncology for over 25 years, she’s learned not to sweat the small stuff. “It’s a much-needed lesson that I feel blessed to have learned,” she explains. “It changed my daily outlook on life. I am a better person because of the patients I have cared for over the years.”
