Life Pieces to Masterpieces (LPTM) is a non-profit, arts-based, comprehensive youth development organization. We serve boys and young men ages 3 to 21 living in low-income and public housing east of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC. LPTM provides opportunities to discover and activate the innate and creative abilities of the members to change life challenges into possibilities. LPTM's continuing goal is to nurture, embrace, encourage, and elevate African American boys and young men. Daily participation in LPTM's artistic, academic, spiritual, and mentoring activities help turn the many challenges in the lives of these boys into opportunities for success, self-reliance, and resiliency.LPTM continues to find new ways to become more involved in community outreach. Kids who live in homeless shelters, seniors living in retirement homes, and students enrolled in neighborhood after-school programs will be invited to visit LPTM and participate in various art projects. In addition to producing art pieces, LPTM performs at various venues throughout the Washington, DC area. These "art shows" include songs, dance, skits, poetry, and an exhibition of apprentices' paintings. LPTM hopes to bring shows to those who are ailing, disengaged, discouraged, and disheartened, including people living in hospitals, nursing homes, group homes, or homeless shelters.
