As the first brand to bring quinoa to the U.S., Ancient Harvest recognizes the importance of ethical and sustainable sourcing. For more than 30 years, the company has maintained and invested in valued, long-term relationships with its Bolivian farming communities, and remains committed to the ethical sourcing of Royal Bolivian quinoa.
To demonstrate Ancient Harvest’s commitment to sustainability, the company sponsors farmer support programs that help farmers achieve organic certification, educate them on practices like using organic fertilizers and pesticides, and support the Center for the Promotion of Sustainable Technologies, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping industries meet challenges related to sustainable development. This year, in order to support future economic activity and improve the quality of life for the company’s farming partners, Ancient Harvest worked with the members of the farming community to determine what they needed and assisted with the funding to get it done. As a result, Ancient Harvest helped make a 30-year dream a reality when a new road was built for the farmers to better access high-altitude quinoa fields.
These support programs bring efficiencies to the farmers, helping to improve and maintain sustainable farming practices while working to assist the farmers in elevating their overall quality of life. It’s of upmost importance for Ancient Harvest to make sure sustainability remains a core value for the business and the farmers producing its quinoa.
