Welcome to Shield medical group, the office of Kulmeet Kundlas. I have been serving Central Florida for the last 22 years. I completed my medical school India and then immigrated to the United States. I finished residency at New York Methodist Hospital Brooklyn New York in 1997 and started my practice Lake Wales, Florida. I was very fortunate that Dr. Sukumar Mathan joined my practice later on. We served our patients with head, heart, and hands. We provided them evidence-based care timely and compassionately. Our practice grew from Lake Wales to Winter Haven and Haines City. We had Hospital affiliations with Lake Wales Medical center, Winter Haven Hospital and heart of Florida regional medical center. We were also affiliated to Grove nursing home and Grace nursing home.

We were a true medical home. We had ensured that we were available to our patients 24/7. Our office had extended hours of operation, weekend hours and after our answering service. We took care of her patients in the hospital and nursing homes. Our offices were staffed by highly qualified teammates. We were one of the top ranking practice in Central Florida for many years. We received many awards for patient satisfaction surveys from many insurances and other quality reports. We took pride in preventing chronic medical problems, managing chronic medical problems in order to mitigate the long-term ill effects. Our patients could count on our practice that if they are sick they will be seen the same day. In 2014, we were approached by DaVita medical group to purchase our practice to incorporate our quality practices into their existing multiple primary care offices.

I truly consider now, that I am in the second phase of my life. I believe that I have learned and experienced a lot about healthcare and healthcare delivery model. I feel that this is my calling to start a new practice with integrated healthcare delivery model meeting the current needs of our patients. It is my philosophy that every patient deserves timely, comprehensive and cost-effective care. I will accomplish above by giving her patients online access to schedule their own appointments, 24-hour availability via healthcare patient portal, virtual visits via telemedicine.

I feel blessed to have a beautiful family. I have been married for the last 29 years and have his son and a daughter. Our children aspire to be physicians. I enjoy traveling, exercise, cooking and reading. Our family has established an educational endowment fund [Kundlas Family Endowment Fund] which sponsors 2 students at the University of South Florida every year. I intend to support more community projects.
