Dr. Pusca received his MD degree at Carol Davila State University in Bucharest, Romania, in 1992. He completed his general surgery residency at Lincoln Hospital Medical Center/Cornell University in the Bronx, NY, in 2001, and completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark in 2004. During his general surgery training, Dr. Pusca spent two years, from 1997 to 1999, researching novel surgical treatments for congestive heart failure at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He received additional cardiothoracic surgery training at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA, from 2001-2002, and at Emory University/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta from 2004-2005. Dr. Pusca served as an instructor in surgery with the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory from 2005-2007, after which he went into private practice in the Midwest and in Texas from 2007-2020.
