Our Mission Statement - Provide value-added products and services to government and industry customers while providing employees with an ethical, highly respected organization that fosters both professional and personal growth.
Founded in 2009, Strategic Defense Solutions (SDS) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama. Since the beginning, SDS has built a diverse portfolio and is providing customers with solid performance, flexibility, and proven support through defense and security products and services worldwide.
SDS enjoys a prominent location in the prestigious Cummings Research Park - the 2nd largest research park in the U.S. and the 4th largest in the world. This location provides SDS and its customers with close proximity to Redstone Arsenal, partner companies, expanded facilities, and a broad range of additional resources.
Our extraordinary leadership manages a team of highly experienced employees and subject matter experts for total service to our customers, bringing a vast knowledge base of defense acquisition, Homeland Security, law enforcement, and tactical equipment. SDS trains, equips and maintains combat-ready forces for challenges world-wide. We are currently manning and operating and deployed combat mission support systems in challenging and austere environments.
We are supporting combatant commands by providing interagency and international detection and monitoring system operations. We facilitate the interdiction of illicit trafficking and other threats by supporting elements of the ground sensors, networks and communications systems at U.S. and partner nation sites. We recognize illicit activities undermine security and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean which in turn threatens U.S. national security.
SDS' heritage is to bring expert capabilities and dedicated personnel to support a broad array of equipment in austere environments. The collaboration of teams, partner nations and a joint environment aligns directly with the domain and functional expertise that SDS has provided over the course of the last three years and continues to deliver to U.S. forces and allies today. Our history includes support of our primary customer conducting operations for the U.S. Army's Counter Artillery, Rocket and Mortar (C-RAM) Program Office in Afghanistan and Iraq.
SDS currently performs operations and maintenance activities on complex systems at locations in Afghanistan by providing Sense and Warn capabilities to as many as 22 Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) or Combat Outposts (COPS). Our management group at Bagram Air Force Base directs and controls the Sense and Warn systems personnel who provide 24/7 operations at various sites. SDS operates the equipment, performs all preventive maintenance, conducts inspections; performs inventories and executes scheduled, corrective, or emergency maintenance. Managers and operators alike understand not only the joint environment but also how to deliver superior support in a multinational environment. We interface with multiple U.S. deployed services (Army, USAF, USN elements), other U.S. Government agencies, and numerous supporting Allied units daily. Often times an SDS employee is the only U.S. presence on a Partner Nation forward operating base.
Our personnel man and operate, maintain, and repair a number of different sensors and radars, including a ground-based version of the Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR), the Ka- and Ku-band Multi-Function Radio Frequency Systems (MFRFS), the Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control (FAAD C2) system, Air and Missile Defense Workstation (AMDWS), the Wireless Audio Visual Emergency System (WAVES), and Satellite and radio COMs. Ancillary Prime Mission Equipment (PME) includes various vehicles, power generation equipment, and Environmental Control Units.
Additionally, we maintain the expertise to support important requirements related to programmatic, staffing and logistical functions. One of our most critical elements is personnel. SDS routinely identifies recruits, screens and trains personnel with unique multifunctional skills to fill challenging assignments.
To be successful, we must have a deep understanding of, and appreciation for, essential coordination between U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) customers, host nation entities, non-DoD U.S. federal agencies, and PME developers if we collectively are to effectively operate, maintain, and repair a broad array of equipment with fluctuating levels of risk. This is exactly the operating environment we have excelled in and are known for. We bring a heritage of professionalism and sense of urgency that has been instilled in employees from the day they started and that has been continually reinforced over the years on real-world, like type efforts.
