Tovey Engineering was founded in 1996 to advance the state-of-the-art in high performance load cells and to provide a sophisticated force measurement resource for mechanical test engineers and force and torque metrology labs. The Company has generated significant growth in both revenues and number of customers since inception, with particularly rapid growth over the last few years. Our commitment to a strong technical foundation is reflected in our customer base. Tovey currently manufactures load cells for most major test machine makers and sells very high performance load cells on a private label basis to select calibration and branded load cell firms. Our customers include domestic and international measurement firms, research and standards labs, and aerospace, auto, and medical companies.
Tovey operates from a fully integrated 12,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the Deer Valley airpark in Phoenix, Arizona. Facilities include a machine shop with 10 CNC machines, a calibration lab with 9 calibration systems, and inspection, test, gaging, and assembly areas. The company's organization facilitates rapid turnaround on special and custom project work. Our staff collectively has decades of experience in performance load cell design and manufacture.
The Company was founded by Mike Tovey, who formerly served as President and Chief Engineer of Interface, Inc. While at Interface, Mr. Tovey presided over redesign of the firm's low profile load cells and developed the firm's in-house machining and strain gage manufacturing capabilities. Since starting Tovey, he has been instrumental in advancing the state-of-the-art in load cells through continuing technical product and process improvements. These have occurred both within the core shear web load cell line and in new product areas such as high accuracy, high capacity load cells. Mr. Tovey is Chairman of ASTM committee E28.01 for calibration of load cells and test machines, is a NVLAP technical expert in force calibration, and has served as Chair
