Founded in 2006, Turnaround Strategies (TS) is based in central Virginia and provides intensive consulting for small businesses that are in financial crisis. TS works closely with the business owner to prepare a turnaround plan with clear objectives to pull out of the crisis, and full financial projections demonstrating a return to positive cash flow. The plan and progress reports are regularly communicated to lenders, vendors, customers and employees. TS works closely with the owner and senior management to implement the plan through weekly management meetings.

TS also conducts the search process for key employees including job descriptions and postings, resume screening, initial phone interviews, in-person interviews with the owner, and background checks.

As the small business returns to profitability and positive cash flow, if required, TS pursues new equity investors and/or conducts a refinancing process with potential new lenders to replace the existing bank term loans and lines of credit.

Since 2006, TS has successfully worked with 15 clients in a broad range of industries including construction, manufacturing and real estate. The typical turnaround process from business plan to refinancing is 1 - 3 years. The typical client's revenues are from $3 million to $25 million. TS obtains its clients primarily through referrals from banks, bank work-out departments, CPAs and small businesses that it has successfully turned around.

TS clients are not in bankruptcy. TS does not provide bankruptcy consulting for small businesses.

The president and owner of Turnaround Strategies is Mike Giancaspro. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech (Business/Accounting - 1977) and VCU (MBA - 1984). Mike has over 35 years of experience including public accounting (CPA at Deloitte), plant management, operations management, cellular manufacturing, mergers & acquisitions, finance, bank refinancing including SBA loans, strategic planning, budgeting, pricing, product cost and profitability, cash flow management and executive search.
